Michael G. Henning is the founder of the Henning Family Business Center, a management and consulting firm specializing in business growth, change and future leadership headquartered in Effingham, Illinois.
Mike makes approximately 50 presentations each year on topics such as succession in the privately-held business, improving communications, relationships and effectiveness; compensation, titles and estate fairness, and developing next generation leaders and managers.
Mike Henning is one of America's leading speakers on the topic of family business issues. Here's why!
Prior to starting the Henning Family Business Center in 1985, Mike was a high school teacher/coach and administrator. He also has over 30 years experience as a successful business owner, including 13 years in the family business.
Mike is recognized both as America’s Family Business "Coach", and as the most frequently used speaker in the U. S. on privately held business succession issues.
Mike has published over 400 articles that have appeared in professional journals, trade publications and national magazines. He published his own newsletter for more than 1,500 clients, professionals and peers. This newsletter completed it's final publication in December 2009. After writing and publishing this newsletter for 21 years, 252 issues, 1764 articles, 2016 pages the Family Firm Advisor Newsletter was set aside and replaced with a bi-monthly, two page Family News & Insights e-newsletter for clients associates and professionals. He has published four books, Your Final Test for Success (3rd edition), Cradle to Grave (2nd edition), Developing Internal Leaders & Managers, and Strategic Planning Workbook.
Mike spends 60% of his time working individually with families in business. He goes beyond the speaking podium to the owner's kitchen table to discuss the issues, solve problems and plan for a successful future.
He holds a B.S., M.S. and Specialist degrees from both Eastern and Southern Illinois Universities. Mike is presently a member of the Family Firm Institute and the National Speakers' Association. He is married, has four children and twelve grandchildren. When he is not traveling, conducting seminars or consulting, he enjoys golfing and skiing. He seems to be a terminal intermediate at both.
